The work I've done with IE students in Ethiopia has been a tiny drop in a very big bucket. We helped a social entrepreneur start a clean water distribution company in a city (and country) that has dire need of water; where women and children spend hours every day walking to obtain it and never have enough, or can only get contaminated water. Fortunately, our water was flowing when the pandemic started, so we provided clean water free to street children when they were confined and set up feeding programs for the poorest of the poor. The entrepreneur now wants to scale up so we will support him in making a broader impact.
The development goal that interests me is the eradication of poverty. When I began to travel to Ethiopia, I realized how important water was for people’s lives.
