Next 50 final exhibition
The world is plagued with challenges that often lead us to despair: war and conflict that cause suffering, hunger and inequalities that shake our conciousness, major global threats like climate or pandemics, which have the ability to threaten humanity and the planet.
Our future depends on our ability to tackle these. But this exercise implies rethinking our society and our role as individuals in it, as well as reorganizing ourselves in a more effective manner: more inclusively, more resiliently, more sustainably.
We need to rethink our governance, and our place in the world and history. We must devise creative approaches to governing interdependence and ensure that globalization is a force for good that creates opportunities for thriving in life while not leaving anyone behind. Bringing about these transformations demand connecting the dots across different areas: international relations, economics, public policies... and doing so with a strong sense of global citizenship and civic duty.
We invite you to explore with us the greatest questions of our time, which will shape the world of 2073. These are the questions that keep us awake at night at the IE School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs, SPEGA. These are the questions that we encourage our students to pose themselves, devising innovative and entrepreneurial answers that can put humanity in a path of progress.
We will only have good answers if, first, we formulate the right questions.

The Next 50: The exhibition
Business School
In the next 50 years we will see a major disruption in the world of work. Here we imagine one possible scenario driven by six transformational forces. Our mission is to spark your curiosity – and perhaps also concern – about how our working lives might evolve. Why? Because as leaders, managers and aspiring business professionals let’s not forget that together we have the ability to shape this future and to prepare ourselves to thrive in it.
Law School
As a tool at the service of society, law is instrumental in addressing the most pressing challenges of each generation. In the space you are about to enter, our faculty present their vision of the future of law and the main challenges it holds. Each of the pieces on display is intended to be a conversation starter. As you walk through this space, we invite you to critically engage with them. Do you agree that these are the most pressing challenges our societies will face over the next 50 years? How should the law navigate the complex political, economic, social, and environmental concerns that they raise? On your way out, share your insights—and help us shape the legal landscape of tomorrow.
School of Architecture and Design
In the coming years, we will likely be talking and thinking quite a lot about what makes us human, and how we are like—and unlike—the devices that we’ve invented. This work will constitute a dance between the individual and the collective, the intuitive and the reasoned, the human and the machine. It is this dynamic that we explore in this exhibit, a collection of projects created by our Bachelor in Architectural Studies students under the guidance of artist and professor Daniel Canogar. As you study each piece, allow yourself to contemplate the way new technologies can be both alienating and surprisingly natural.
