Combining the best of an Ivy League education with a top-ranked international business school, the IE Brown Executive MBA is designed to take your career to the next level. The 15-month program strengthens your business foundations to enhance your leadership capacity, helping you achieve the best executive positions in business for long-term success.

Featuring a curriculum created by impactful leaders at Brown University and IE Business School, the program’s signature blended format integrates online sessions with five residential periods in Madrid, Providence and Cape Town. This hybrid structure allows you to keep up with your professional life as you learn to make a positive impact in real-time.

We recently caught up with alumni Braden Sweet and Carlos Moliner to hear about how the program transformed their personal and professional lives.

The IE Brown Executive MBA: A unique experience

Unlike any other executive program, the IE Brown EMBA is designed with you—and a better future—in mind. You will travel to various global hubs, dive into other cultures, tackle real-world projects and meet influential leaders in the business world. The first and third residential periods take place in Spain, the second and fifth in the United States, and the fourth will be a business immersion experience in South Africa.

For the online portion of the program, you’ll experience a mix of synchronous and asynchronous video conference lectures and forum discussions. Each lecture lasts around 90 minutes, and you get to learn alongside classmates from around the world. Meanwhile, forum discussions offer a chance to engage in digital conversations with your classmates when it best fits your schedule.

“The residential sessions allowed me to cement these personal and professional connections. I was able to convert peers from just someone I work with to true friends,” Braden Sweet, alum.

This hybrid approach to learning is what makes the IE Brown Executive MBA stand out. “During the online components, I was able to get a fuller picture into someone’s mind,” explains Braden. “But the residential sessions allowed me to cement these personal and professional connections. I was able to convert peers from just someone I work with to true friends during our time in Cape Town.”

Similarly, Carlos reflects on the value of the blended format, saying, “We’ve built a family. Our cohort is still really tight, and we see each other often. The IE Brown Executive MBA has given me a richness in my personal and professional relationships that I haven’t previously had.”

Creating impact for executive positions in business

This unique program focuses on leadership, providing an environment where executives with ten or more years of professional experience can thrive. You may be seasoned in your industry, but there’s always room to grow. “The IE Brown Executive MBA has had a strong impact on my leadership style—honestly, more of an impact than I expected,” Carlos admits.

As an innovation and transformation manager at Ford, Carlos walked away from the program with a new self-awareness regarding his management and leadership style. He was able to build an extensive network and use it as a sounding board for ideas and challenges, making him a much more open-minded professional overall. “Coming from a technical background, I’m reaching a point where I’m much more comfortable with uncertainty and the way things are changing.” Carlos has been in the automotive industry for over a decade, but he’s discovering new ways to deliver value and make an impact thanks to this immersive program.

“The IE Brown Executive MBA has had a strong impact on my leadership style—honestly, more of an impact than I expected,” Carlos Moliner, alum.

Braden’s main takeaway was her new outlook on entrepreneurship. “I feel much more equipped to explore entrepreneurship. I gained a stronger understanding of managing finances, overseeing supply chains and how to think about the impact my company will have on both customers and suppliers.” This new perspective helped Braden confidently shift her career to an entrepreneurial path.

A lifelong network

Although participants enjoy the flexibility of learning online, residential periods in this program are so incredibly impactful that you’ll build lifelong connections. Like for Braden, the cultural experience in Cape Town will show you a new side to business with impact. What’s more, these in-person experiences allow you to step out of your day-to-day and into a new mindset due to a wide variety of perspectives. This is essential experience for working in executive positions in business.

Braden transformed her mindset professionally, but she also gained so much more. “I now have a deep, global network of alumni who are just a phone call or WhatsApp exchange away,” she says. “I can draw on them for something as big as investing in the company or as small as giving me a quick reality check.” Creating this network has given her an unmatched support system for her role as an entrepreneur.

The IE Brown Executive MBA continues to have an impact long after graduation. From lifelong connections to a new sense of confidence in your leadership skills, the benefits are tenfold. If you’re looking to enhance your personal and professional profile, the IE Brown Executive MBA may be the next step toward your future.
