Students from various master’s programs visited the IE Tower to network with recruiters from the top organizations in the sector.
IE University is renowned for our focus on careers: we are committed to ensuring our students find success in their chosen path, whether before graduation or after they enter the world of work. Recently, students from several master’s programs attended the IE Careers Forum—our largest recruitment event, which provides a platform for our student body to connect with recruiters from some of today’s top companies.
This unique event brought participants together at the iconic IE Tower for several days of student-recruiter networking in the heart of Madrid’s business hub. Organized by IE Talent & Careers, it hosted more than 80 leading companies in a series of industry-specific events over the course of five days. Top recruiters in attendance were eager to discover new talent among the university’s crop of skilled and ambitious students.
Networking opportunities
Students from IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs’ range of master’s programs enjoyed the opportunity to meet recruiters and take the next step toward their futures. The Global Impact & Law forum featured top companies in the sector, including well-known names like Atrevia, be Bartlet, Deloitte LATAM, DLA Piper, Futuro Perfecto, Harmon Corporate Affairs, OCU, Ontier, Pérez-Llorca, Plan International, Puentes Global, Roman, TMF Group and Vinces.
Mengru Li, a Master in International Relations student, commented on the impressive lineup: “IE University is very well connected. It has collaborations with a lot of excellent companies.”
For her and her fellow students, the IE Careers Forum was the perfect platform to explore their career options, learn about new job opportunities and network with key decision-makers in some of the biggest companies in fields, such as public affairs and global development. Additionally, a career advisor was on hand to provide them with valuable guidance and recommendations.
Inside the IE Careers Forum
The event began with an expert panel led by representatives from DLA Piper, Futuro Perfecto and Harmon Corporate Affairs.
They shared powerful tips and insights geared toward helping students secure a competitive position within the industry.
Afterward, each participating organization received attending students at dedicated stands to facilitate one-on-one meetings and answer questions about their companies, recruiting processes and more.
As a result, the IE Careers Forum was a resounding success. “It can help you network with your peers to see where common interests lie and to get tips from each other on how to start conversations with these companies,” said Paula Strubel, a Master in International Development student, explaining the massive positive response from the university’s student community.
Lessons from the Careers Forum
The spring edition of the IE Careers Forum brought huge benefits to its participants, such as helping master’s students map out the next steps of their career journeys. Luke Crisp, who is studying the Master in International Relations, pointed out, “Being in contact with these companies and experts helps me gain practical experience in the field I’m interested in working in after graduation.”
Indeed, this sentiment was shared among a majority of the participants, proving the importance of such recruitment-focused initiatives at the university.
Participants also shared some tips to help other students get the maximum value from the careers fair. Daniel Vermehren-Herrera, a Master in Applied Economics student, advised, “Be prepared: get to know the companies you are interested in and what they do beforehand, because they notice your interest.” Laying the groundwork in this way is your key to success, as it allows you to connect more meaningfully with recruiters and ask relevant questions that foster a positive response.
Keeping up with the latest developments in the field is another must for any savvy student. “Understanding the conversation from these leading companies helps us know about the employment opportunities currently available,” Mengru Li explained. Not only will this kind of initiative prove your resourcefulness, but it will also help you stand out as an eager and reliable candidate.
Ready for global impact
The IE Careers Forum is just one of our multiple career-focused resources to help students prepare for their futures and ensure their long-term progress on an international scale. And with the success of its first installment for the year, we are already looking forward to welcoming students to the next edition of this innovative recruiting experience.
