What is the format of the Master in Sustainability & Business Transformation? 

We deliver the Master in Sustainability & Business Transformation full-time over 12 months, in Madrid. The program anchors itself in four pillars of learning: Foundations of Sustainability, Sustainable Business Practices, Sustainable Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and Business Transformation & Impact. These pillars aim to give students a comprehensive understanding of how sustainability fits in every facet of a business. At the same time, they equipping students with the skills needed to actively work towards a more sustainable future.

The Master in Sustainability & Business Transformation builds strong theoretical knowledge alongside assignments and projects to apply what you’ve learned. The program culminates in a Final Integration Challenge, where students and their peers collaborate to tackle challenges that mirror real-world business sustainability problems. Ultimately, the Master in Sustainability & Business Transformation aims to set you up to make sustainability an integral part of their professional identity. 

What will my program schedule look like? 

The Master in Sustainability & Business Transformation is a three-term program with a fall intake. An orientation week immerses you into the program’s culture and community right from the start, kicking off your journey with a focus on creativity, collaboration and critical thinking.

During your first term, you’ll begin your journey into sustainability while exploring economics, social entrepreneurship, behavior and other courses. You’ll also take part in the Venture Challenge, an immersive experience that challenges you to apply learned insights to create innovative sustainability ventures. 

The second term enhances your understanding of sustainability in business, exploring the complexities of driving sustainable change within organizations. You’ll focus on Operational Dynamics in Sustainable Transformation and Advanced Practices in Sustainable Innovation and Governance. You’ll also participate in the Consulting & Change Leadership Challenge, conducting fieldwork as you combine your academic learning with real-world application.

This gives you the chance to work as a strategic sustainability consultant with a major corporation seeking to embed sustainable practices into their strategic decision-making.

In the final term, you can tailor your journey to your specific interests and goals through selected elective courses. That means delving into sustainable intersections with finance, technology and innovation. You can also choose an elective from ESG Investments and Asset Management or Financial Modelling and Capital Markets: Crafting a Sustainable Future. 

You’ll also complete the Final Integration Challenge, an opportunity to show how fully prepared you are for professional success. In this challenge, you’ll work within a team as you address a simulation of the real-world challenge of steering businesses and corporations towards sustainability.  

How can I broaden the experience? 

In addition to the built-in electives to personalize your learning experience, there are additional opportunities provided that allow you to add maximum value to your learning journey.  

The Career Discovery Accelerator is a series of hands-on workshops designed to help you figure out where you’re going in your career. This program also provides students with the opportunity to further connect with professionals in different fields and sectors.  

Further exposure to sustainability practices in businesses is provided by the Business Transformation Trek, where students go beyond the four walls of their classrooms and into the heart of Spain’s business landscape.

These excursions put you in the rooms where we meet, define and overcome real sustainability challenges.

And there’s the optional Global Immersion Week, a firsthand exploration of international hubs of innovation in sustainability. This experience allows you to learn what it’s really like to run a sustainable business on a global scale. Plus you’ll see the work of a top sustainable company and meeting its managers face-to-face.
