Álvaro Cortina Urdampilleta

Álvaro Cortina Urdampilleta (Bilbao, 1983) is professor of Political Philosophy at IE and of Metaphysics, Ethics, Anthropology, Natural Theology and Modern Philosophy at the CTSA Escorial-María Cristina University Center. He also lectures at the Universidad San Dámaso. In addition, he is an essay critic at EL CULTURAL, and collaborates in various places, such as EL PAÍS, EL MUNDO, Contexto or Revista de Occidente.

He has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Navarra and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Leiden (Netherlands) and from the Diego Portales University (Santiago de Chile). He also has a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Navarra. He has been a member of the Forschungskolloquiums Klassische Deutsche Philosophie at the Humboldt University of Berlin and has been a visiting researcher at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. He has given seminars at the Diego Portales University, the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Leiden and has read conferences at the University of Oxford and the University of Göttingen. He has published academic articles in specialized magazines on metaphysics, philosophy of history and aesthetics in authors from the 19th and 20th centuries. His latest works deal with European romanticism.
