José Fernández de Bilbao
José Fernández de Bilbao has worked for more than 20 years in investment banking, primarily focused on banks and insurance companies. Prior to starting his academic career, he was Managing Director and Head of Financial Institutions and Public Sector for Spain and Portugal at HSBC and Executive Director covering Spanish banks at ABN AMRO. He also worked at the Financial Institutions Group of JP Morgan and at the Corporate Finance Department of Goldman Sachs.
During his career, José has worked in bank valuations, M&A, debt and equity offerings and IPOs in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, the UK, France and Greece. At the moment he is working on his PhD and as a freelancer financial consultant specialized in capital raising and financial institutions M&A.
José holds an MBA from IESE (Barcelona, Spain), and was an exchange student at Columbia Business School, NY. He also holds a Post- graduate Degree in European Economics and a Law Degree with a Diploma in Business from the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain).
