Sergio García
Sergio García is a faculty member in the Environmental Science Department at IE University. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Murcia and a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. During his Ph.D., he collaborated with Oak Ridge National Laboratory on projects to address environmental challenges, specifically producing biofuels and biochemicals from plant biomass through engineered microbial metabolism. He has presented his work at international conferences and published in top biotechnology journals. Sergio's research goal is to make molecular biology a data-driven and simulation-based discipline. As an educator, he uses his expertise to help students acquire and apply current knowledge effectively. In his free time, Sergio enjoys hiking and sailing, activities that support his commitment to preserving nature's beauty and diversity.
