Emilio Vaca
I developed a passion for climbing mountains when I was eight years old, around the same time that I acquired a love for the Andean condor, Ecuador’s national bird. Watching them fly around the volcanoes and mountains of my country made me want to appreciate nature from that altitude and from those hard-to-reach places. As humans cannot simply fly around with condors, I decided to start practicing the next best thing: mountain climbing.
"Every step can be a struggle, but it’s your choice how to react. You need to be decisive, paving your own way. When I’m doing what I love, and I love what I’m doing, I can reach the peak of the most difficult mountain."
Emilio Vaca was born and raised in Ecuador, and is currently in his 3rd year of the Dual Degree in Laws and International Relations. When he was 15 years old, Emilio published his first book, called x, with a professional publisher in Quito. In this book he shares his story of climbing the seven highest mountains in Ecuador. Currently, Emilio is the founder and president of IEU’s very own Cultural Excursions Club, a club that organizes various trips for students to travel around Spain and to get to know all of the wonderful experiences the country has to offer.
IE University helped me share my passions with other members of the community by giving me the opportunity to create the first club for cultural excursions, which provides students the means required to explore and travel around Spain.
