Marta García del Valle
My name’s Marta García del Valle and I come from Madrid, Spain. I really love math and I would describe myself as a logical and structured person. I study the Bachelor in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence at IE University.
"What I like most about my program is the freedom we have to develop our ideas."
A technological career full of possibilities
Marta is a logical person—and math is what makes her tick—so it was only logical for her to decide to study the Bachelor in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence at IE University. Originally from Madrid, Marta decided that IE University was the perfect place for her to study. What set the institution apart was the opportunity to develop all of her skills across a range of disciplines.
As part of her program, Marta is encouraged to create her own ideas and bring them to life. In particular, she enjoys the opportunity to develop technological startups, with guidance and support from her faculty and peers. She’s also become involved with the IE Technology and Innovation Club to further build on her love of turning ideas into reality. Starting as the event coordinator, she’s since worked her way through the ranks up to President. Marta is not one to shy away from responsibility: she's organized events for the club and networked with companies so they can come and talk to her fellow IE University students.
In her free time, Marta is also on the basketball team, where she often plays matches against the Segovia team, exposing her to more people of different cultures every day. She explains that every day she learns something new as part of the IE University community.
Last year, Marta participated in the Econ DataLab, where she worked with fintech. This experience gave her the opportunity to explore what field she may want to pursue a career in. Currently, Marta is completing an internship with a technology consulting company alongside her studies. Her daily routine includes classes in the morning and then connecting remotely to her internship, where she focuses on innovative solutions for insurance companies.
Marta doesn’t have a clear picture in mind of what her future career looks like, but she knows that the technology sector is where her heart lies. She would consider working for Google or Amazon, but knows that IE University opens many doors for her future, so the possibilities are endless.
