The 6th edition of enlightED establishes the event as the major international forum on educational innovation
The success of enlightED 2023 in figures: 2,500 attendees and more than 50 speakers for rethinking the impact of ai on employment, ethics and education.
The 6th edition of enlightED, the international conference on innovation, education and technology, which has established itself as a global leader in educational innovation, came to a close today. The conference, promoted by Fundación Telefónica, IE University, South Summit and the “La Caixa” Foundation, took place on 18 and 19 October at the Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Madrid in the presence of 2,500 people.
Under the slogan Rethinking education in the age of artificial intelligence, enlightED 2023 addressed the challenges, opportunities and solutions posed by generative AI, its use and its applications for teachers and students, respect for diversity, regulation and ethical boundaries and the impact on the future of employment, among other issues.
The closing ceremony was attended by Pilar Alegría, acting Minister of Education and Vocational Training, José Luis Martínez Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, José María Álvarez-Pallete, President of Telefónica, Carmen Morenés, Director General of Fundación Telefónica, Diego del Alcázar, CEO of IE University, María Benjumea, founder and CEO of South Summit, and Xavier Bertolín, Corporate Director of Education and Marketing for the “La Caixa” Foundation. During his closing speech, José María Álvarez-Pallete, the president & CEO of Telefónica, underlined:
"Telefónica's proposal is to use technology to hack technology. Part of the solution is to use platforms and personalize information with AI to reinvent the way we educate. We shall learn to use technology with a purpose."

As in previous years, the conference brought together some of the leading national and international thinkers to address the impact of generative AI and the related challenges and opportunities. They included renowned speakers such as Toju Duke, founder of Diverse AI, Daniel Susskind, an expert on the impact of technology focusing on AI, work and society and professor of Economics at King’s College London, Carl-Benedikt Frey, Dieter Schwarz associate professor of Artificial Intelligence and Work at the Oxford Internet Institute, Edo Segal, founder and CEO of bMuse, Priya Lakhani, founder and CEO of Century Tech, and Carlos Santana, one of the best-known Spanish-speaking popularisers of artificial intelligence on YouTube.
