Lisan Is Winner of IE Deep Tech Venture Day Saudi Arabia

IE Deep Tech Venture Day was organized by IE University in partnership with The Garage and Jada Fund of Funds Company.

IE Deep Tech Venture Day, a competition for startups developing technology solutions for scientific or engineering challenges, took place on May 24 at The Garage in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and was organized by IE University in partnership with The Garage and Jada Fund of Funds Company. The event featured startups in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, blockchain, cybersecurity, and biotech, among others. In addition to the startup competition, there was a series of guest speakers and panelists, who shared their insights on the insights and trends in deep tech and the advancements that have been made in this field in Saudi Arabia. 

The winner of the IE Deep Tech Venture Day startup competition is Lisan, an AI writing platform offering state-of-the-art proofreading and grammar checking to help individuals who write in Arabic to maximize their productivity, create exceptional content using cutting-edge generative AI models, and automate tasks with AI accelerators.

“The topic of this Venture Day could not be more relevant and timely,” said IE University CEO Diego del Alcázar Benjumea in his opening remarks, with The Garage CEO Omar Al-Shabaan and General Supervisor of The Founding Team, RDIA, H.E. Dr. Munir M. Eldesouki. “Deep tech is developing at an unprecedented pace, and AI, big data, and emerging technologies are transforming the way we live, communicate, work, and learn.”

The Venture Day also included keynotes from Jada Fund of Funds CEO Bandr Alhomaly and C4IR KSA Managing Director Dr. Basma Albuhairan, as well as two panel discussions on “The Dawn of Deep Tech: Revolutionizing Industries” and “Exploring Boundaries: Saudi Arabia's Startup Ecosystem and its Global Reach.” 

As the winner of the startup competition, Lisan receives immediate qualification for South Summit Semi-Finals, as well as scholarships to attend IE University Lifelong Learning Online Programs, and $25K in AWS credits. The top three finalists of the IE Deep Tech Venture Day receive six months access to The Garage shared offices.

IE Venture Days take place in cities around the world, including Berlin, Bogota, London, Madrid, Miami, Paris Santiago de Chile, and Tokyo are designed to foster the entrepreneurial ecosystem, connecting the best startups, investors, corporations, accelerators and thought-leaders. Every Venture Day includes a combination of keynote speakers, panel discussions, and a startup competition with the most-promising entrepreneurs of the region. The conferences are open to the general public, IE students and alumni, as well as individuals from the local and regional entrepreneurial communities are invited to participate.
