Next April 30 Building Engineer Rafael Oliva will give a lecture on the construction of the International Cultural Centre Oscar Niemeyer at IE University. Oliva is nowadays responsible for the security of the construction works of the Centre, one of most technically complex buildings now under construction in Spain. Its central dome is particularly interesting, since it was built with a new technology in which concrete is projected from the inside of the building onto a giant plastic sheet, used as a formwork, that has previously been forced to adopt a correct form through a process of controlled pressurization.
