Gonzalo Melián, professor of IE University, a guest of the Mont Pelerin Society Meeting in Istanbul
Dr. Gonzalo Melián is going to be a guest from September 30th to Octuber 4th in the Mont Pelerin Society Meeting in Istanbul. The Mont Pelerin Society was created after the World War II, in 1947, when many of the values of Western civilization in danger.
It was when 36 scholars, mostly economists, with some historians and philosophers, were invited by Professor Friedrich von Hayek to meet at Mont Pelerin, near Montreux, Switzerland, to discuss the state and the possible fate of liberalism (in its classical sense) in thinking and practice. Members include high government officials, Nobel prize recipients, journalists, economic and financial experts, and legal scholars from all over the world. They gather on a regular basis to present the most current analysis of ideas, trends and events.
Among the speakers of the Mont Pelerin Society Meeting in Istanbul will be Prof. Peter Boettke (George Mason University), Mustafa Akyol (Hurriyet Daily News), Prof. Steven Davies (Institute of Economic Affairs), Dr. Sam Gregg (Acton Institute), Cumhur Thomas Gür, Daniel Hannan (Member of the European Parliament), Dr David R Henderson (Hoover Institute), Prof. Chandran Kukathas (London School of Economics), Prof. Timur Kuran (Duke University), Leon Louw (Free Market Foundation), Prof Julian Morris (Reason Foundation), Prof. Bican Sahin (Hacettepe University), Prof. Razeen Sally (London School of Economics), Prof. James Tooley (Newcastle University) and Dr. Michael Wohlgemuth.
