IE Business School announces the winners of the VIII Ibero-American Economic Journalism Prize
The prize is supported by CAF Development Bank of Ibero-America, Iberia, CNN in Spanish, Cinco DÃas and Casa de América.
"¿Salida de EE.UU. del acuerdo favorece al Perú?" (Does the US exit from the agreement benefit Peru?) was awarded Best Article in the Daily Press Category. Daniel Macera’s piece, published in Peru’s El Comercio was recognized for its analysis of the former TransPacific Agreement, now known as TPP-11.
The best article in the Non-Daily Press category has been awarded to "El arte de negociar con Trump" (The Art of Negotiating with Trump) by Verónica GarcÃa de León Robles and published in Mexican magazine Expansión. The piece focuses on the negotiations between Mexico and the United States within the framework of the renewal of NAFTA, one of the most important global trade agreements.
Special awards were given to Bloomberg BusinessWeek Mexico in partnership with El Financiero (Mexico), Correio Brasiliense (Brazil) and Mercados y Negocios de Perú (Arequipa, Peru)
The jury of the VIII Prize for Economic Journalism highlighted the work of Correio Brasiliense, Bloomberg BusinessWeek Mexico magazine and Mercados y Negocios de Perú, for its contribution to promoting economic and entrepreneurial culture in Latin America.
Correio Brasiliense (Brazil) was given a distinguished mention in the Best Daily Press for its wide coverage of economic issues and innovation. Founded in 1961, its history parallels the creation of the new capital of Brazil. With 455,000 printed weekly copies sold and nine million daily visitors to its website, the newspaper has witnessed many political and economic changes in Brazil over the last half century.
Bloomberg BusinessWeek Mexico magazine, created by Bloomberg and Grupo Multimedia Lauman, the publisher of El Financiero, has local and regional content produced by the Bloomberg News team in Mexico and Latin America, as well as El Financiero journalists. This is the first edition in Spanish of the business and global finance magazine founded in 1929.
Mercados y Negocios de Perú (Arequipa, Peru) was recognized for its contribution to providing economic information as the best media published outside of a national capital. Mercados y Negocios de Perú is the only publication in Peru focusing on business with regional coverage, while maintaining a national focus.
The jury of the 8th edition of the Journalism Prize, tasked with assessing contributions, is made up of executives from the entities organizing the award: IE Business School, CAF - Development Bank of Latin America and CNN, as well as and journalists who have won an award in previous years.
The prize is supported by CAF Development Bank of Ibero-America, Iberia, CNN in Spanish, Cinco DÃas and Casa de América.
The award ceremony of the VIII Edition of the Ibero-American Economic Journalism Prize will take place on April 24 at Casa de América in Madrid. Cinco DÃas is the collaborating media and Iberia is the official airline of the event.
