IE University began its new academic year with more than 8,000 students from over 140 countries and is expanding its double degree programs. The institution welcomed more than 1,700 new undergraduate students from 88 nationalities this month. Seventy-eight percent are international and 54% are women. IE University will have more than 8,000 undergraduate and master's degree students this academic year. Of these, almost 4,000 students will study at IE Tower, the new technological and sustainable headquarters in Madrid, one of the few high-rise university centers in the world, with 180 meters, 35 floors, 50,000 m2 of floor space and 7,000 m2 of green areas.Â
At the academic level, IE University is giving priority this year to face-to-face learning. In line with the innovative character of the institution, IE University has designed the Liquid Learning model that allows students to attend classes in person or connect simultaneously with the same immersive experience and academic excellence from anywhere in the world. Last academic year, IE University delivered more than 60,000 face-to-face classes and 25,000 online sessions as part of its commitment to making the most of new learning technologies.Â
Furthermore, for the academic year 2021/2022, IE University is consolidating the new degree programs already implemented over the last three years, while at the same time increasing the number of double degree programs that combine technological training with social sciences and legal disciplines, such as the Dual Degree in Economics and International Relations, the Dual Degree in Business Administration and Design or the Dual Degree in Philosophy, Politics, Law and Economics.Â
Reflecting its ongoing commitment to protecting the health of the IE community, the university is strengthening its health protocol beyond the authorities’ recommendations. Since June 2020, the institution has performed more than 55,000 antigen, PCR, serological and rapid tests at campus infirmaries to protect the health of students, faculty and staff members and services. The institution’s IE Covid Support Office provides academic and technological support and personalized attention to students and their families, while medical teams are located on the Madrid and Segovia campuses. There is also a specially designed web app for all members of the IE Community to monitor their health status on a daily basis, with a digital passport synchronized with access control to the facilities, checkpoints with thermal cameras and facial recognition systems, among other measures. All persons accessing IE University buildings must wear protective masks at all times and it is mandatory to maintain a safe distance inside the campus.Â
