Two of IE University’s innovative multimedia educational resources received accolades at the 2024 Learning Technologies Awards, recently held in London. This achievement underscores the institution's commitment to advancing educational innovation and leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance the learning experience.

Facing New Challenges in Space & Cyber Affairs: SpaceGov - Bronze in "Best Technology-Based Learning Game" Category

This multiplayer simulator, developed by IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs Professor Andrew Bertoli, allows students to explore how nations devise strategies and make decisions on global governance. Through this interactive tool, students confront collective action issues in space and cyber domains, gaining practical experience in managing complex challenges. Key topics include strategy, negotiation, decision-making, and sustainability. The simulator’s objective is to illustrate the intricacies of human interactions, providing students with an opportunity to experience both cooperation and competition in social processes.

The Ethical Crossroads of Emerging Technologies - Finalist in "Best Use of Simulations or Virtual Environments for Learning" Category

Created by IE School of Humanities Professor Theodore Lechterman, this virtual reality simulator presents students with two ethical dilemmas related to the implementation of artificial intelligence: one in the context of legal proceedings and the other in military conflict. Students immerse themselves in an emotionally charged experience, taking on active roles in making decisions with profound ethical and moral implications. These choices, along with their consequences, are then analyzed in classroom discussions, fostering critical reflection and encouraging idea exchange among students.

This year, the Learning Technologies Awards 2024 brought together the best in global learning technologies to recognize outstanding achievements and innovation in the industry. Honoring organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions, this prestigious event showcased the impact of cutting-edge solutions and celebrated the people behind transformative learning experiences.

Martin Rodriguez Jugo, General Manager of IE Lifelong Learning & Digital Learning, shared his excitement about the awards, “The Learning Technologies Awards 2024 brought together the best in global learning technologies. It recognizes achievements and innovation in our sector. We are thrilled with these recognitions that show our commitment to innovation in the way we teach in our programs. Both awarded simulations have been played by thousands of students within IE University, and represent a great example of teamwork between our Digital Learning team and our faculty, with the main objective of getting the most out of technology to enhance the learning experience.”
