Salvador Carmona, Rector of IE University, receives the Anthony G. Hopwood Award from the European Accounting Association

Salvador Carmona, Rector of IE University, has received the Anthony G. Hopwood Award, the European Accounting Association’s most prestigious international prize. This distinction is awarded to experts in the areas of accounting and management control for their contribution to research, content generation, dissemination, teaching and service to the profession. The award was presented in Helsinki, during the annual meeting of the European Accounting Association.

Salvador Carmona has an extensive career as a director and member of the editorial boards of several leading research journals. He has also chaired international associations such as the Academy of Accounting Historians. His research in the areas of cost control and history constitute an academic reference in these areas. The Rector of IE University has been distinguished throughout his career with international awards such as the Academy of International Business’ Eminent Scholar.

In addition to his academic leadership at IE University, Salvador Carmona has been Editor of the European Accounting Review, President of the European Accounting Association. and Senior Editor of Oxford Research Reviews, as well as authoring or co-authoring a long list of articles, books and teaching materials of international scope. He also has experience as a business consultant, and has been a visiting professor at CEIBS (China), Arizona State University (US) and the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), among others. A year ago, in May 2022, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Finland’s Aalto University.
