A UNIQUE BACHELOR IN fashion DESIGN
Structured around a series of intensive project-based fashion design studios and a parallel sequence of garment construction and craft workshops, our plan of study has been designed to guide students through a series of applied challenges and topics in the fashion industry, increasing in complexity over time.Â
In addition to this central element, we include coursework in four central subject areas: craft and technique, fashion business, ethics and social impact, and history and theory of art and design.
Our aim is not only to equip graduates with the tools to design and construct innovative garments and collections, but also to understand the broader cultural, material, economic and sociological landscape of fashion.

FIRST YEAR – BODY, TEXTILE, AND PROPORTION
You´ll begin your fashion design studio work starting on day one, with a focus on the body, textiles, and proportion. These studio courses are accompanied by construction and craft workshops focusing on sustainable materials and techniques, as well as the assembly of garments through patternmaking. You’ll also learn about design methodologies, graphic communication tools and illustration tools, along with an introduction to the history of art and design.
SECOND YEAR – SUSTAINABILITY, COLLECTIONS, AND SERIES
In your second year, you’ll turn your attention to more complex issues in fashion design, including the creation of cohesive collections and series, and to sustainable strategies in design. You’ll also explore emerging digital tools, fashion design history, fashion photography, video, and styling, and will begin your work in the Fashion Management Module, with an introduction to Production and Distribution. As you begin to explore questions of sustainable fashion, you’ll also learn about socially responsible sourcing and production, as well as principles of circularity in fashion.
THIRD YEAR – PRODUCTION, DIGITAL TOOLS, AND ALTERNATIVE PRACTICE
The third year will introduce you to the challenges of design for large-scale production, and industrial patternmaking. You’ll also explore fashion and digital media, inclusive design, and will continue your fashion business training with a course on fashion marketing, merchandising and sales. In second semester of third year, you can elect to study abroad at one of our partner universities or to enroll in our series of Alternative Practices electives, where you’ll explore specializations in Fashion Design including accessory design, costume design, and virtual fashion.
FOURTH YEAR – COUTURE, EXPERIMENTATION, AND FINAL PROJECT
The final year serves as your springboard into your fashion career, with a focus on experimentation and haute couture in the first semester and your final project or collection in second semester. You’ll also examine the ethical and legal aspects of the fashion industry, and will learn about e-commerce and fashion entrepreneurship, while also studying the implications of design within a larger sociological context. As you develop your final collection or project, you’ll also learn about the design of events and spaces, while also focusing on communication and brand design.
