PROFESSIONAL CAREERS

With a comprehensive understanding of both fashion and business administration, you’ll be in a strong position in tomorrow’s competitive job market. With the fashion industry demanding as much business know-how as design capability, and the business world increasingly seeking creative thinkers with an innovative mindset, you’ll stand out from your competition in both spheres.

What’s more, you’ll have an excellent understanding of the factors that drive sustainable business practices, highly sought-after whether you later enter the fashion industry or any other sector. Versatile, creative and entrepreneurial—you’ll be exactly what employers are looking for, opening doors to a wide range of career paths:

  • Fashion designer or creative director

Combining artistic vision, strategic thinking and leadership skills to shape and define a brand's creative direction, fashion designers and creative directors guide design development, manage creative teams, maintain brand consistency, and ensure that the brand resonates with its target audience.

  • Stylist or buyer

Stylists don’t just create appealing and cohesive looks by selecting and arranging clothing, accessories and props. They also collaborate with photographers, art directors or clients and work closely with clients, models or celebrities to ensure the best possible outcomes for the products. Buyers select and purchase stock for stores or brands, analyzing market trends and managing relationships with suppliers. They negotiate on pricing, monitor the supply chain and collaborate across the business on inventory and KPIs.

  • Textile or costume designer

The beating creative heart of the fashion industry. Combining artistic and technical skills with awareness of market trends, designers conceive and create clothing for our everyday lives, and costumes for film, television and theater. Tech-savvy designers now also leverage the latest digital tools to create virtual clothing and accessories for characters in the digital realm, collaborating with VR/AR experts to bring their ideas to life.

  • ESG/CSR consultant

ESG and CSR consultants create, implement and manage Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability strategies for companies and organizations large and small in any sector. They play a critical role in adding strategic value, using their creative thinking and business know-how to make a positive impact on the planet and future-proof their organization.

  • Marketing manager

Using the latest marcom tools, both online and offline, marketing managers create impact in their organization’s strategic marketing plan by challenging current trends and coming up with new and innovative ideas to get their company, brand or product noticed. Modern marketing managers are data driven, connecting brands and consumers using their insights to produce powerful, storytelling campaigns.

  • Create and run your own startup

At IE University, entrepreneurship is at the heart of all our programs. Many of our graduates go on to set up and excel in their own ventures, with success stories in every field including fashion. Our entire ecosystem encourages ideas and accelerates their development. Startups can disrupt their industries, produce innovative ideas and products, and provide a way for our alumni to carve their own path to success through the sector they’re passionate about.
