Coming to My Senses

Sex sells. In a hyper-sexualized society, sex is used as a marketing tool to sell products and grab attention, reducing it to a purely physical and perfectly framed experience. Despite its pervasive presence, addressing concerns about pleasure remains an uncomfortable topic to some, while only a handful of people have access to pleasure education. The lack of comprehensive sex education in Spain, particularly regarding pleasure, contributes to the misinformation and discomfort surrounding the subject.

"Coming to My Senses," is a spatial design proposal that offers a foundation of pleasure education concerning sexuality. It is an auditory guided exploration to help discover and develop a deeper understanding of individuals' erotic selves through sensual and sensate focus rather than solely sexual. Drawing from sex therapy and somatic practices, it promotes pleasure exploration as an alternative form of sex education through introspection and shared experiences. It aims to make pleasure accessible and alleviate pressure, stress, and anxiety symptoms of being ill-equipped. While it challenges the notion of the public-private divide and emphasizes the importance that the foundation of pleasure is based on one's senses; touch, smell, sight, sound, taste, and your body-mind relationship - not just genitals.
